One of our favourite aspects of creating custom furniture is the collaborative process of designing one of a kind pieces with amazing designers and clients from around the globe.

Living Wood Design has recently collaborated on some custom live edge black walnut dining tables with Allison Babcock, a Sag Harbor, New York designer who integrates both contemporary and traditional design in her elegant approach to interior design in Sag Harbor residences.

 

For this project Babcock requested that we create a truly unique live edge walnut table for her client; they had envisioned a modern white steel base in a sleek design tempered by the timeless beauty of an exceptional Walnut wood slab table top with a live edge. They also appreciated that all of our wood is locally salvaged from fallen or injured trees, and that we strive for sustainability in all that we do at Living Wood Design. We pick stunning huge slabs from fallen logs, mill them up and kiln dry then so we create heirloom quality slabs for all of our projects. We love the idea that we're giving new life to beautiful, stately old trees and sending them to live in homes where they will be treasured for generations!

The designer and her client reviewed the many photos of live edge wood slabs available to them, and chose a stunning set of salvaged English Walnut slabs for their dining table top. We absolutely love the creative process of designing our tables with our clients, and no matter how many miles between us, the process of creating a piece of functional art together is always exciting! The ease of which technology allows us to create a piece together, despite the geographic distance, always amazes us.

Living Wood Design created the live edge English Walnut table top and the modern, sleek white powder coated steel table base that Allison Babcock had envisioned for her client, and the final product is a stunning and elegant dining table, perfect for this Sag Harbor, New York home. The mix of modern and classic pieces curated by Allison Babcock gives this luxury home a sense of tranquility and timeless beauty that truly resonates throughout every room.
