At Living Wood Design we have become known as a design firm that has really special, large slabs of hardwoods to create truly stunning tables. We seek out large specialty slabs that are rare; these are salvaged live edge slabs that come from trees that have fallen due to old age or have been taken down for safety in a backyard, for example.
We individually select each set of book matched live edge slabs for stunning grain and colour.

Our clients love that their tables are made from these amazing book matched sets of slabs, unlike many tables out there that are made from multiple slabs of wood and look dull and drab.
The table pictured here was made from some truly enormous 14' slabs of live edge black walnut wood, and as you can see the colour, grain and symmetry are simply gorgeous. We made this one of a kind piece for a New York City client who wanted an enormous table that would seat a large party of people when they entertain. We custom made this live edge table exactly to their specifications, as well as the modern chrome bases. The entire table is warm and elegant and truly a conversation piece; our goal is to create each table with the utmost care and precision, using traditional techniques to handcraft each piece. Such fine craftsmanship is rare these days for furniture, as so many c0mpanies  just push pieces through an assembly line in a factory.
