We recently created a live edge table using two striking bookmatched slabs of black cherry wood, salvaged from a stately century tree that had fallen in a storm. After being milled and kiln dried the wood was in perfect condition to create an heirloom table.

We loved working with our client, Nick; he had a definite vision for his table. He chose the cherry slabs, the table shape, the table base and he collaborated with Andy  in the design of  the carved sculptural ends of the table. The table has a live edge and is finished with natural oil, with our black metal Junction base. Nick’s eye for design is evident in his lovely west Toronto home, which he renovated and decorated himself, and the finished table is the perfect centrepiece for this tastefully appointed home!

Nick had this to say about his experience:

After doing extensive research, there was no question in my mind that Living Wood Design was going to be the company building my table. It was important to me to have full interaction and to know exactly who would be working on my table. Andy and Anna were a pleasure to work with. They both were very reachable and always were able to provide me with good answers to all my questions. Andy has a tremendous talent in wood carving and design and I’m sure to work with them again in the future.
